Dr. Sreenivasa Rao Basavala is a cybersecurity leader and researcher with more than two decades of experience in application security, AI security, DevSecOps, cloud security, and enterprise cybersecurity. He serves in a senior application security leadership role within a U.S. federal organization, where he leads initiatives in secure software development, vulnerability management, cloud security, secure DevSecOps, and AI-enabled cybersecurity. His expertise includes secure software development life cycle (SSDLC), application security testing, API security, threat modeling, cloud-native security, and software supply chain security.
Dr. Rao earned a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) in Cybersecurity, where his research focused on improving the robustness of multimodal artificial intelligence systems against adversarial attacks. His research interests include artificial intelligence security, adversarial machine learning, large language model (LLM) security, AI governance, secure software development, and responsible AI. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and serves as a reviewer for peer-reviewed journals and research conferences.
He holds several internationally recognized professional certifications, including CISSP, CISM, CCSK, GISP, GSLC, CEH, and PMP. Dr. Rao is also an experienced Java software developer and is committed to advancing AI-driven application security through research, innovation, and industry collaboration. His work bridges academic research and real-world cybersecurity practice by developing practical solutions that enhance the security, resilience, and trustworthiness of modern software systems.
