He is currently working at the Ambala College of Engineering and Applied Research, Ambala, Harayana. Born on October 8, 1939, at Jehlum, (now in Pakistan), he did his BA Hounours in Mathematics in 1957 and MA in Mathematics in 1960, both from Panjab University, Chandigarh. He obtained his PhD from Roorkee University in 1967. He began his teaching career as a Lecturer at Multanimal Modi College, Modinagar from 1961-64. Later, he served as a Lecturer during 1964-70, Reader during 1970-85, and Professor during 1985-2000 at the Department of Mathematics, Roorkee University. During 1994-1999 he shouldered the responsibility of the Head of the Mathematics Department, Roorkee University. After superannuation, he was appointed as Professor and Dean, Amity School of Computer Science, Noida, which he served during the period 2000-2002. During 2002-2004 he served as Prof. and Head, Mathematics Department, IILM College of Engineering and Technology, Greater Noida. His teaching and research in Operations Research, Optimization, Fuzzy, Neural Networks and other allied areas over a span of 41 years. He has over 100 research publications in National and International Journals of repute. He has authored 4 books on technical subjects, including operations research, optimization techniques, fuzzy sets and fuzzy systems. He is the recipient of the Khosla Research Award 1990, Millennium Award of Honour, American Biographical Institute, Listed in Who’s Who publications. He is a member of the International Astronomical Union, Operations Research Society of India, Founder Member of Indian Astronomical Society, Founder Executive Member of Indian Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics. His current research interests are Operations Research, Numerical Optimization, Multi Objective Optimization, Evolutionary Algorithms and Fuzzy Optimization.
The Soft Computing Research Society (SCRS) is a research organization that was established in 2013. It is now more than 5 years old having more than 600 active members and continues to play a very important and pioneering role in the research & development in the area of soft computing. Prof. Chander Mohan always had a special relationship with SCRS. He is the driving force to run the society. To pay its humble respect to his valuable services to the society, the functionaries and life-members of the Society instituted an award in the name of Prof. Chander Mohan to be given to a scientist of international repute and standing for his valuable contributions in promoting the teaching and research in the area of soft computing and allied areas.
Researchers from India can nominate themselves or any researcher from India. Nomination requires a detailed CV of the nominee with the weblink of ORCID and Google Scholar pages. The nominations should be sent to General Secretary, Dr. Jagdish C Bansal at [email protected].
It is presented to a candidate having made a significant contribution that forms a clearly exceptional addition to the science and technology of concern to soft computing research society.
It will be presented to an Individual and not to any organization/lab/ University.
The award consists of a gold medal, a certificate, and honorarium.
If the selected medal recipient is not a SCRS member, then recipient will be automatically recommended to the SCRS executive body for SCRS Honorary Membership.
In the evaluation process, the following criteria are considered: substantial significance of achievement, originality, impact on society, impact on the profession, publications, and patents relating to the achievement. The quality of the nomination is also considered.

Notification: Recipients are typically approved during the November Last week. Recipients and their nominators will be notified. Subsequently, the nominators of unsuccessful candidates will be notified of the status of their nomination.
