Beyond the Single Platform: A Multi-Dimensional Decision Framework for Enterprise Integration & Cloud Transformation

Abstract:

Enterprise architects routinely conduct rigorous competitive evaluations before committing to integration platforms, yet even well-governed ecosystems face a recurring challenge: as technology portfolios grow, the conditions that justified an original platform selection evolve, and new scenarios emerge that no single platform was designed to serve optimally. This paper proposes a five-dimension decision framework — evaluating System Homogeneity, Native Capability Maturity, Reuse Potential, Compliance Posture, and Throughput Profile — to govern ongoing platform assignment across heterogeneous multi-cloud ecosystems. Through cross-industry case analysis spanning financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, and consumer goods, we demonstrate that scenario-appropriate selection, enforced through a governed Integration Center of Excellence, consistently delivers superior cost, quality, and architectural durability outcomes.
