The API Economy of Verified Insurance Data: Consumer-Permissioned Data Exchange Protocols
Abstract:
Modern insurance data exchange has converged on a consumer-permissioned API pattern — the policyholder authenticates directly with the data source, and a structured API delivers verified data to a requesting application in seconds rather than days. This talk examines the communication protocol design behind this pattern (OAuth-style consent flows, webhook-based change notification, and standardized JSON schemas across heterogeneous carrier systems) using real-world examples from the P&C insurance data ecosystem, and presents Polisense AI's own multi-channel ingestion architecture supporting nine distinct intake protocols (REST API, SFTP/PGP, native system connectors, cloud storage triggers, and email parsing.
