Beyond the Request: Engineering Low-Latency Event-Driven Architectures for Real-Time Financial Intelligence

Abstract:
The financial technology industry is evolving rapidly as organizations seek to deliver faster, more responsive, and scalable digital financial services. Traditional request-response architectures often struggle to meet the demands of modern financial platforms that must process continuous streams of transactions, market events, and customer interactions. Event-Driven Architectures (EDAs) provide an alternative approach that enables systems to react to events in real time while maintaining scalability, resilience, and flexibility.

This session explores how EDAs are transforming financial systems by enabling loosely coupled services, asynchronous communication, and continuous event processing. Attendees will learn how technologies such as Apache Kafka, Apache Pulsar, and cloud-native event platforms are being used to build resilient data streaming infrastructures capable of supporting modern financial workloads. The talk will examine practical use cases where event-driven systems deliver tangible value, including real-time fraud detection, dynamic credit scoring, high-frequency trading platforms, and automated regulatory reporting. These architectures allow organizations to analyze financial events as they occur, improving decision-making, operational efficiency, and customer experience.

The session will also discuss how combining event-driven systems with artificial intelligence enables new capabilities such as predictive analytics, behavioral analysis, and adaptive financial services. At the same time, implementing EDAs in regulated environments introduces challenges related to data security, compliance, system scalability, and integration with legacy financial infrastructure. By the end of the session, participants will gain practical insights into designing event-driven architectures for financial systems, selecting the right streaming technologies, and building secure, scalable platforms that support modern FinTech innovation.
