Mr. Arun Kumar Elengovan
Post-Quantum Cryptography and the Future of Digital Security
Abstract:
This keynote critically analyzes the approaching cryptographic singularity induced by cryptographically relevant quantum computers, which threaten to dismantle the public-key infrastructure underpinning global financial and national security systems. With a definitive timeline of 8-10 years until the full operationalization of quantum computational power and a multi-year enterprise migration cycle (5-7 years), a narrow and escalating risk window has opened, facilitating catastrophic 'Harvest Now, Decrypt Later' data compromise.
It establishes Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) not as an iterative patch, but as a mandatory architectural pivot. The presentation validates the security foundations of PQC; including Lattice, Hash, and Code-Based schemes and highlights the strategic global alignment on standards with the finalization of NIST FIPS 203 (ML-KEM) and FIPS 204 (ML-DSA). This work mandates that organizations shift their perspective from a discretionary security measure to a core strategic imperative, positioning immediate cryptographic inventory and system agility as essential steps for maintaining digital sovereignty and resilience in a quantum-transformed threat landscape.
