Cybersecurity for National Critical Infrastructure: Safeguarding Against Cyberterrorism
Abstract:
Cybersecurity for critical national infrastructure is essential to safeguarding the safety, resilience, and operational continuity of foundational systems that support society. As transportation networks, utilities, energy grids, and communication frameworks become increasingly digitized, they face growing threats from sophisticated cyberterrorism attacks. The integration of new technologies, such as SCADA systems and IoT devices, has expanded the attack surface, necessitating a comprehensive cybersecurity approach. This talk explores the rapid evolution of cyber threats targeting critical infrastructure, highlights key vulnerabilities, and discusses effective mitigation strategies. Through case studies from the energy, transportation, and public utility sectors, the discussion underscores the importance of public-private partnerships, coordinated incident response mechanisms, and international collaboration in enhancing resilience against cyber threats.
