Shift-Left Testing in Computational Technologies: Improving Efficiency and Early Defect Detection

Abstract:

Shift-Left Testing is a modern approach that focuses on detecting and fixing defects early in the software development lifecycle. Unlike traditional testing, which happens late in the process, Shift-Left Testing moves testing earlier ("left"), ensuring issues are caught and resolved in the initial stages, such as during design and development. This approach helps improve software quality, reduce costs, and accelerate delivery. Automation plays a key role in Shift-Left Testing. AI-driven test automation, continuous testing (CT), and predictive analytics help identify defects as soon as the new code is integrated. This minimizes risks and enhances software reliability. Agile and DevOps methodologies further support this shift by embedding testing into each phase of development, ensuring faster feedback loops and quicker bug resolution.
