Transforming SEC Quarterly Reporting: Achieving 40% Cycle Time Reduction Through Workday Accounting Center and Workiva Integration

Abstract:

Global enterprises face mounting pressure to accelerate SEC reporting while maintaining compliance accuracy. This presentation details a transformative case study where a global enterprise eliminated weeks of manual Form 10-Q preparation through strategic automation.
Traditional 10-Q filing processes required extensive manual effort, including ERP data extraction, subledger reconciliations, and template population, creating compliance risks and delayed reporting cycles.
By integrating Workday Accounting Center with Workiva Wdesk, the organization established a straight-through automated pipeline connecting subledger data directly to SEC-compliant reporting templates with real-time accuracy. This strategic solution delivered quantified results, including a 40% reduction in quarterly reporting cycle time, eliminated manual reconciliations with near-zero discrepancies between ledger and reporting templates, and filing deadlines were consistently met ahead of schedule. The implementation also created complete audit trails from source transactions to SEC filings, significantly improving audit confidence.
The project required cross-functional alignment between finance, IT, and compliance teams, with iterative rollout strategies proving essential for user adoption. Pre-mapping Workiva templates with XBRL tagging to Workday outputs eliminated downstream errors and streamlined the entire process. The strategic impact extended beyond efficiency gains, as finance teams shifted from data entry to value-added analysis, while audit confidence improved through end-to-end data lineage transparency.
This blueprint provides a scalable model for any organization using Workday Accounting Center and regulatory reporting platforms, with expansion potential to 10-K, ESG, and statutory reporting. Attendees will gain actionable insights on integration architecture, change management strategies, and measurable ROI frameworks for regulatory reporting transformation initiatives that can be immediately applied within their own organizations.
