Operationalizing Agentic BI: From Dashboards to Decisions

Abstract:

For two decades, business intelligence has meant dashboards — static views into what happened, curated by analysts and interpreted by humans. But as organizations sit on growing volumes of data and face increasing pressure to act faster, the dashboard model is showing its limits: someone still has to look at it, understand it, and decide what to do next. Agentic BI changes that equation. Instead of surfacing data for humans to interpret, agentic systems can monitor metrics, investigate anomalies, synthesize context across sources, and recommend — or even initiate — action. This talk explores what it actually takes to move from "reporting on the business" to "operating the business" with AI agents in the loop.

Profile:

Data Architect at Cisco Systems, where I focus on strategy, delivery, and enablement of agentic AI solutions across business intelligence, data management, and auditing platforms. Over the years, I have led multiple enterprise-scale business transformation initiatives, working closely with executive stakeholders to translate complex data and AI capabilities into measurable operational outcomes. In parallel with my industry role, I actively contribute to academia and the professional community. I currently serve on the Industry Advisory Board for the Computer Science Department at East Carolina University (ECU), where I help guide curriculum relevance, industry alignment, and emerging technology adoption. I am also an IEEE Senior Member and a Fellow of the British Computer Society (BCS), and I remain actively involved in professional forums that bridge research, practice, and leadership.
