Edge-Cloud AI Pipelines for Smart Hospitals
Abstract:
The rise of smart hospitals is transforming healthcare by embedding intelligence at every layer of care delivery. At the heart of this transformation lies the edge-cloud AI pipeline, a hybrid architecture in which edge devices perform real-time inference on patient vitals, imaging, and sensor data. At the same time, cloud platforms handle longitudinal analytics, trend detection, and population health insights. Edge devices refer to computing or sensing units, such as ICU monitors, wearable sensors, or medical gateways, that process data locally at or near the point of care rather than sending everything immediately to the cloud. This keynote examines the design of resilient, secure, and low-latency edge-cloud AI pipelines that enable critical applications, including ICU monitoring, predictive maintenance of medical devices, and innovative triage systems. Real-world examples and lessons learned will illustrate how edge-cloud AI enables faster decision-making, improves patient outcomes, and creates brilliant hospital environments ready for the future of care.
