Network-as-a-Service (NaaS): The Next Operating Model for Telecom Networks
Abstract:
The telecommunications industry is undergoing a profound transformation driven by the convergence of 5G Standalone, cloud-native architectures, and digital-first enterprise demands. Traditional telecom models—built around static connectivity and infrastructure-centric operations—are no longer sufficient in a world where applications require dynamic performance, guaranteed service levels, and seamless integration with cloud ecosystems. Enterprises now expect networks to behave like software: programmable, scalable, and consumable on demand.
Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) emerges as a new operating model that redefines how network capabilities are delivered and monetized. By exposing network functions such as bandwidth, latency, security, and slicing through APIs and automated orchestration, NaaS enables telecom operators to move beyond connectivity and offer intelligent, application-aware services. Powered by cloud-native network functions, AI-driven automation, and open exposure frameworks, NaaS transforms telecom networks into adaptive digital platforms capable of real-time service provisioning and policy-based assurance.
This keynote explores both the technological foundations and the strategic implications of NaaS for the telecom ecosystem. It highlights enterprise and industry use cases across manufacturing, healthcare, smart cities, and mission-critical communications, while addressing practical challenges including legacy integration, security, standardization, and regulatory considerations. The session concludes with a forward-looking perspective on how NaaS, combined with autonomous networks and ecosystem-driven innovation, will shape the future of telecom and position operators as key enablers of the digital economy.
