The Age of Autonomous Defense: Architecting Multi-Agent Systems for the Next Generation of Cyber Threats
Abstract:
As Generative AI accelerates the sophistication of automated attacks, traditional cybersecurity paradigms are reaching their breaking point. The era of static rules and monolithic detection models is ending, giving way to a new threat landscape dominated by "GenAI Bots"—autonomous agents capable of reasoning, context-awareness, and human-like mimicry.
In this keynote, Avinash Vootkuri will explore the shift toward "Cognitive Sentinel" architectures: the use of Multi-Agent Systems (MAS) to counter AI with AI. Drawing from large-scale implementations in Fortune 1 retail environments, the session will dismantle the "Black Box" problem of current AI defenses. We will discuss how deploying specialized agents—such as "Profilers" and "Skeptics" that debate borderline traffic—can drastically reduce false positives and restore trust in automated decision-making.
Attendees will gain a roadmap for the future of "Synthetic Identity Governance," moving beyond simple bot mitigation to a world where we must govern a mixed workforce of human and machine users.
Profile:
Avinash Vootkuri is a Staff Data Scientist at Walmart Global Tech and a recognized thought leader in AI-driven cybersecurity. With a specialized focus on protecting high-volume enterprise environments, he leads initiatives to detect and mitigate sophisticated fraud, bot attacks, and abuse using advanced Machine Learning and Multi-Agent Systems (MAS).
Avinash bridges the gap between academic theory and industry reality. His work on "Cognitive Sentinel" frameworks—replacing static defense rules with autonomous, debating AI agents—is defining the next generation of bot defense. He serves on the Advisory Board for GIAC, actively contributes to the global cybersecurity community as a peer reviewer for IEEE journals, and frequently judges industry technology awards.
Previously, Avinash held senior data science and quantitative modeling roles at AppFolio and KeyBank. He holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science and is passionate about solving the "False Positive Dilemma" in real-time threat detection. At ITAI 2026, he brings a practitioner’s perspective on how organizations can survive the coming age of AI-driven warfare.
