Prof. Kusum Deep, IIT Roorkee
Dr. Kusum Deep, is a Professor, with the Department of Mathematics, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, India. Born on August 15, 1958, she pursued B.Sc Hons and M.Sc Hons. School from Centre for Advanced Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh. An M.Phil Gold Medalist, she earned her PhD from IIT Roorkee in 1988, assisted by UGC Scholarship throughout.
She carried out research at Loughborough University, UK during 1993-94, under an International Post Doctorate Bursary funded by Commission of European Communities, Brussels.
She was awarded the Khosla Research Award in 1991; UGC Career Award in 2002; Starred Performer of IIT Roorkee Faculty continuously from 2001 to 2005; best paper, Railway Bulletin of Indian Railways,2005; special facilitation in memory of late Prof. M. C. Puri, 2007.
She has co-authored a book entitled "Optimization Techniques" by New Age Publishers New Delhi in 2009 with an International edition by New Age Science, UK.
Nine students have been awarded PhD under her supervision and six are in progress. She has 65 research publications in refereed International Journals and 55 research papers in International / National Conferences. She is on the editorial board of a number of International and National Journals. She is a Senior Member of Operations Research Society of India, IEEE, Computer Society of India, Indian Mathematical Society and Indian Society of Industrial Mathematics. She is on the Expert Panel of the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India.
Her areas of specialization are numerical optimization and their applications to engineering, science and industry. Currently she is working on Nature Inspired Optimization Techniques, particularly, Genetic Algorithms, Memetic Algorithms, Particle Swarm Optimization and their applications to solve real life problems.
Dr. Jagdish Chand Bansal, SAU Delhi
Dr. Jagdish Chand Bansal is an Assistant Professor (Senior Grade) at South Asian University New Delhi. Dr. Bansal has obtained his PhD in Mathematics from IIT Roorkee. Before joining SAU New Delhi he has worked as an Assistant Professor at ABV- Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management Gwalior and BITS Pilani. He is the editor in chief of “International Journal of Swarm Intelligence (IJSI)” published by Inderscience. He has edited 7 special issues of various international journals published by Elsevier, Springer and Inderscience. He was also one of the organizers of international conferences BIC-TA 2012 at ABV-IIITM Gwalior, India, and annual conference series SocProS. He is the general secretary of Soft Computing Research Society. His Primary area of interest is Nature Inspired Optimization Techniques. Recently, he proposed a fission-fusion social structure based optimization algorithm, Spider Monkey Optimization (SMO), which is being applied to various problems from engineering domain. He has published 51 research papers in various international journals/conferences. He has supervised two Ph.D. thesis from ABV-IIITM Gwalior and 3 are in progress from SAU New Delhi. He has received Young Scientist Award 2009 from Gwalior Academy of Mathematical Sciences. He has also received Gold Medal at UG and PG level.
Dr. Anupam Yadav, NIT Uttarakhand
Dr. Anupam Yadav is an assistant professor of Mathematics at the National Institute of Technology Uttarakhand. His research areas are numerical optimization, high-order graph matching, and operations research. He received his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, India and M.Sc. in Mathematics from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India. He has published a book entitled An introduction to neural network methods for differential equations, one book chapter and several journal and conference papers, and has given a number of invited talks. He has organised 4th International Conference on Harmony Search and Soft Computing ICHSA 2018. He is the guest editor of International Journal of experimental and theoretical artificial intelligence. He has developed a heuristic named neural network algorithm (NNA). Dr. Yadav has edited a book entitled harmony search and Nature inspired optimization algorithm.
Dr. Harish Sharma, Rajasthan Technical University Kota
Dr. Harish Sharma is an Associate professor at Rajasthan Technical University, Kota in Department of Computer Science & Engineering. He has worked at Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University Kota, and Government Engineering College Jhalawar. He received his B.Tech and M.Tech degree in Computer Engg. from Govt. Engineering College, Kota and Rajasthan Technical University, Kota in 2003 and 2009 respectively. He obtained his Ph.D. from ABV - Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior, India. He is secretary and one of the founder member of Soft Computing Research Society of India. He is a life time member of Cryptology Research Society of India, ISI, Kolkata. He is an Associate Editor of “International Journal of Swarm Intelligence (IJSI)” published by Inderscience. He has also edited special issues of the journals “Memetic Computing” and “Journal of Experimental and Theoretical Artificial Intelligence”. His primary area of interest is nature inspired optimization techniques. He has contributed in more than 45 papers published in various international journals and conferences.
