Dr. Swagatam Das, ISI Kolkata
Swagatam Das received the B. E. Tel. E., M. E. Tel. E (Control Engineering specialization) and Ph. D. degrees, all from Jadavpur University, India, in 2003, 2005, and 2009 respectively. Swagatam Das is currently serving as an associate professor at the Electronics and Communication Sciences Unit of the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, India. His research interests include evolutionary computing, pattern recognition, multi-agent systems, and wireless communication. Dr. Das has published one research monograph, one edited volume, and more than 200 research articles in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences. He is the founding co-editor-in-chief of Swarm and Evolutionary Computation, an international journal from Elsevier. He has also served as or is serving as the associate editors of the IEEE Trans. on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics: Systems, IEEE Computational Intelligence Magazine, IEEE Access, Neurocomputing (Elsevier), Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence (Elsevier), and Information Sciences (Elsevier). He is an editorial board member of Progress in Artificial Intelligence (Springer), PeerJ Computer Science, International Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Soft Computing, and International Journal of Adaptive and Autonomous Communication Systems. Dr. Das has 12000+ Google Scholar citations and an H-index of 54 till date. He has been associated with the international program committees and organizing committees of several regular international conferences including IEEE CEC, IEEE SSCI, SEAL, GECCO, and SEMCCO. He has acted as guest editors for special issues in journals like IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation and IEEE Transactions on SMC, Part C. He is the recipient of the 2012 Young Engineer Award from the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE). He is also the recipient of the 2015 Thomson Reuters Research Excellence India Citation Award as the highest cited researcher from India in Engineering and Computer Science category between 2010 to 2014.
Dr. Nishchal K. Verma, IIT Kanpur
Dr. Nishchal K Verma (SM’13) is an Associate Professor in Dept. of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India. He obtained his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India. He is an awardee of Devendra Shukla Young Faculty Research Fellowship by Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India for year 2013-16. His research interests include intelligent fault diagnosis systems, prognosis and health management, big data analysis, deep learning of neural and fuzzy networks, machine learning algorithms, computational intelligence, computer vision and image processing, brain computer/machine interface, intelligent informatics, soft-computing in modelling and control, internet of things/ cyber physical systems, cognitive science. He authored more than 170 research papers. Dr. Verma is an IETE Fellow. He is currently serving as an Editor of the IETE Technical Review Journal, an Associate Editor of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Magazine, an Associate Editor of the Transactions of the Institute of Measurement and Control, U.K. and Editorial Board Member for several journals and conferences.

Prof. Kusum Deep, IIT Roorkee
Dr. Kusum Deep, is a Professor, with the Department of Mathematics, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, India. Born on August 15, 1958, she pursued B.Sc Hons and M.Sc Hons. School from Centre for Advanced Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh. An M.Phil Gold Medalist, she earned her PhD from IIT Roorkee in 1988, assisted by UGC Scholarship throughout.
She carried out research at Loughborough University, UK during 1993-94, under an International Post Doctorate Bursary funded by Commission of European Communities, Brussels.
She was awarded the Khosla Research Award in 1991; UGC Career Award in 2002; Starred Performer of IIT Roorkee Faculty continuously from 2001 to 2005; best paper, Railway Bulletin of Indian Railways,2005; special facilitation in memory of late Prof. M. C. Puri, 2007.
She has co-authored a book entitled "Optimization Techniques" by New Age Publishers New Delhi in 2009 with an International edition by New Age Science, UK.
Nine students have been awarded PhD under her supervision and six are in progress. She has 65 research publications in refereed International Journals and 55 research papers in International / National Conferences. She is on the editorial board of a number of International and National Journals. She is a Senior Member of Operations Research Society of India, IEEE, Computer Society of India, Indian Mathematical Society and Indian Society of Industrial Mathematics. She is on the Expert Panel of the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India.
Her areas of specialization are numerical optimization and their applications to engineering, science and industry. Currently she is working on Nature Inspired Optimization Techniques, particularly, Genetic Algorithms, Memetic Algorithms, Particle Swarm Optimization and their applications to solve real life problems.
Dr. Jagdish Chand Bansal, SAU Delhi
Dr. Jagdish Chand Bansal is an Assistant Professor (Senior Grade) at South Asian University New Delhi. Dr. Bansal has obtained his PhD in Mathematics from IIT Roorkee. Before joining SAU New Delhi he has worked as an Assistant Professor at ABV- Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management Gwalior and BITS Pilani. He is the editor in chief of “International Journal of Swarm Intelligence (IJSI)” published by Inderscience. He has edited 7 special issues of various international journals published by Elsevier, Springer and Inderscience. He was also one of the organizers of international conferences BIC-TA 2012 at ABV-IIITM Gwalior, India, and annual conference series SocProS. He is the general secretary of Soft Computing Research Society. His Primary area of interest is Nature Inspired Optimization Techniques. Recently, he proposed a fission-fusion social structure based optimization algorithm, Spider Monkey Optimization (SMO), which is being applied to various problems from engineering domain. He has published 51 research papers in various international journals/conferences. He has supervised two Ph.D. thesis from ABV-IIITM Gwalior and 3 are in progress from SAU New Delhi. He has received Young Scientist Award 2009 from Gwalior Academy of Mathematical Sciences. He has also received Gold Medal at UG and PG level.
